In anticipation of Brad Pitt being the first male face of Chanel No 5, the luxury fashion house has released this fabulous video of the History of Chanel No 5 perfume, arguably the most well-known perfume in the world!

The History of Chanel No 5 video shows it’s creation and history of firsts…

Chanel No 5 was created in 1921 by Coco Chanel, as “a woman’s perfume with a woman’s scent” and said that a woman’s scent should be as important as her style of dress and also recommended that every woman wear perfume every spot on her body she’d like to be kissed – ooh saucy!

Contrary to popular perfumes at the time, that were based on single floral bases, Coco Chanel enlisted perfumer Ernest Beaux to create a multi-layered fragrance and the resulting 5th version, comprising of 80 scents was chosen by Coco Chanel as the Chanel No 5 we all know!

Take a peek at the video above to find out about all of the  ‘firsts’ of Chanel No 5, all in the lead up to Brad Pitt being the first male face of Chanel No 5!
