Whilst applying my make up this weekend for my sister’s wedding, I realised that although I love trying out new products and use an array of products on a weekend or for special occasions – there are some staple essentials that I’ve tried, tested and use daily. Here are my 5 favourite make up bag essentials….

5 Favourite Makeup Bag Essentials

1. Face – Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Clinque Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Poweder

Ok so I’ve cheated a bit here, as I have 2 favourite base products – Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Clinque Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder.

Nars foundation is easily applied and really leaves a flawless porcelain effect. It isn’t the cheapest foundation but I think it’s worth it – you don’t need to use a lot to get good coverage. You can buy online from Nars for £29.50.

Clinique pressed powder is definitely a make up bag essential – it’s a fab mirrored compact, perfect for your handbag and has a light matte finish. It retails from Clinique for £21.

2. Concealer – Benefit Erase Paste

I’ve always traditionally been an YSL Touche Eclat evangelist but this product actually converted me – Benefit Erase Paste is a lovely little pot of creamy concealer. Best applied with a brush, it brightens dark areas and imperfections – and the pot lasts for ages, even with daily use! It retails from Benefit for £19.50

3. Eye liner – Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil

For every day use, rather than liquid eye liner that can take a while for a precise application, I use Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil. Unlike kohl pencils, this eye pencil doesn’t smudge but blends enough to give you a smoky edge of eye effect. Love love love this! It retails at House of Fraser for £13.

4. Cheeks – Benefit Dandelion

I love many Benefit products, especially their range of face powders – but this is my make up bag essential – Benefit Dandelion. It’s the perfect pot of subtle ballerina pink shimmer, and gives cheeks an every day radiant glow. And like a lot of Benefit products, smells delish too! Benefit Dandelion costs £23.50 from Benefit.

5. Eyes – Lancôme Hypnôse Drama mascara

This is one of my ultimate favourite products of all time and one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used – Lancôme Hypnôse Drama mascara. The curvy brush gives full, thick and dramatic lashes and is really volumising. A must have for any make up bag! This mascara can be bought from Lancôme for £21.
