If you thought you the custom 3D Sushi Minx nails at Fred Butler were crazy, wait until you lay your eyes on these absolutely insane Minx nail designs for Italian Vogue’s #OverTheTop issue…
Celebrity nail stylist Lisa Logan was booked to provide nails for the Steven Miesel shot Vogue Italia feature.
The inspiration for the shoot was fashion from the streets turned upscale and couture. Lisa told the co-founders of Minx, Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin about the Italian Vogue shoot and Janice created a variety of custom Minx designs for Lisa to use at the shoot.
The designs she provided to Lisa included, Rainbow Minx, Money Minx, and a Dalmation patterned Minx that was created from a photo of Dawn’s own pet Dalmation, Minxy.
“Between the custom Minx and the new line of Minx designed by Kimmie Kyees, I knew I was in good shape when I walked in the room”
The styling for the #OverTheTop fashion shoot was needless to say *ahem* fairly crazy with wigs with airbrushed M&Ms, skittles and Twix wrappers…
Together with her assistants, Danielle Corbin Jaime of NailTaxiNYC and Kelly Barber, Lisa began Minxing the three models, styling their nails to complement the colorful, wild wigs that each model was wearing.
“I didn’t actually see the final wardrobe choices, so we had to refer to the model’s wigs as a guide” explained Lisa.
Keeping in mind the extreme theme of the shoot, Lisa decided to use extremely long nail tips on the models, and included unique 3D nail decorations bought in Asia.
At the very end of the shoot the stylist asked Lisa to minx the models toes, but of course they didn’t want a regular old Minx pedicure and asked Lisa to create super long nail tips. Lisa used a half-inch nail tip (in the pic above), but that wasn’t enough for this crazy shoot… the stylist had Lisa change them out for a super-long two-inch nail tip set, which you can see in the picture below (dont’ think they’ll be catching on anytime soon!)
