After an incredibly crap day (Winter is definitely here!!), coming home and finding four gorgeous OPI Texas nail polishes on my doorstep brightened my mood considerably. I wrote about the new OPI Texas Spring Summer 2011 nail polish collection a few weeks ago, but seeing as they aren’t available until February next year, I didn’t think I’d get to try them out quite so soon!
The first of the Texas collection I have to show you is OPI Don’t Mess with OPI, a grass green nail polish.
To be honest when I saw this in the bottle I wasn’t particularly excited about it, I’ve never really been a fan of bright green nail polishes, but as you can see in the picture above, the finish of OPI Don’t Mess with OPI nail polish is amazing! Just absolutely amazing! It painted on super smoothly and 2 coats gave me a perfect even opaque finish. I’m still not 100% convinced that the colour is for me, but I am seriously swayed by the texture. If you are looking for a gorgeous green nail polish, I’d look no further than this one!
The next polish I have to try is OPI Y’all Come Back Ya Hear – a beautiful bright orange jelly finish nail polish
Y’all Come Back Ya Hear was one of the nail polishes I really wanted to try from seeing the picture of the Texas Spring Summer 2011 collection (you can click that link to see all the pictures from OPI!). I have never really gotten on well with jelly nail polishes, I have a borderline obsession with having opaque nail polish, so when I first saw that Y’all Come Back Ya Hear was a jelly polish, I was a bit disappointed. Boy was I wrong! I painted my middle finger with a white base so I could compare what it would be like if it was more opaque and it is so much better as the jelly. My nails just look so juicy! The colour is absolutely beautiful as well, a proper pop of bright orange.
Fabulous!
Next up is OPI It’s Totally Fort Worth It nail polish – this is another one that I really liked the look of from the pictures of the the Texas collection
It’s Totally Fort Worth It is a pale shimmery lilacy silver nail polish. Again in the pic above I used a base coat of white polish on the middle nail only. I’m disappointed by this colour. The texture, like all OPI polishes is fantastic – it painted on smoothly and had a really nice finish (a little bit thin), but I was underwhelmed by the colour, especially seeing as the other colours I’ve been sent of the Texas collection are so bold.
The final colour from the OPI Texas nail polish collection I have to show you is Suzi Loves Cowboys
Wow! Just look at that polish! OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys is a beautiful deep rich chocolately brown nail polish. After the first coat I was worried that is was going to be too thin, so I used 3 coats of polish and got the most beautiful opaque finish with a gorgeous glossy finish.
So as expected these nail polishes have fabulous texture (thank you OPI!), but the two colours that really stand out of these 4 are Y’all Come Back Ya Hear and Suzi Loves Cowboys – I love them both!
Unfortunately these nail polishes aren’t out until February 2010, so this is really just a sneaky peek of what to watch out for – I can highly recommend the OPI Burlesque nail polish collection in the mean time!
Here are 4 Burlesque nail polish swatches – Take the Stage, Rising Star, Tease-y Does It and The Show Must Go On and this is a link for OPI Ali’s Big Break nail polish (another Burlesque nail polish)

I absolutely love Suzi Loves Cowboys! I think it’s the perfect chocolate creme I’ve been looking for…I just wish I didn’t have to wait until February to get it.
at least ur swacthes are neat and dont look like bird claws! I’ve seen some swacthes that scared the heck out of me… not a good look for OPI advertisment! but ur swacthes are very pretty and that brown and green color is super fab!!
I have a question Is “Dont mess with OPI” similar to “Jade is the new black” ? From the swatches I’ve seen they look soooooo much alike.
Wow! I adore Don’t Mess With OPI but especially Suzi Loves Cowboys, cannot wait for this collec!
Hi Jenni – not sure about Jade is the new Black – I don’t have it to compare! @Hannah – Suzi Loves Cowboys is so so gorgeous! x
love the green, brown and silver/grayish ones.
I linked the swatches back to your site. Lovely pictures!
Thanks Chanel! xxx
Hi, love your pics! Suzi loves cowboys looks good enough to eat lol! Is the pic pretty true to life, or is this one of those ‘almost black’ colours? Hope not:)
Thanks Renee! That pic is pretty true to colour – it’s a really nice chocolate brown, but not so dark it looks black. It’s really warm brown. x
