Boots have introduced a new foundation to the No7 make-up range, No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation, which I was very keen to try out!
I have a really annoyingly oily forehead, but dry patches on my chin and cheeks – with the occasional spot thrown in (honestly how is it fair that at 31 I have wrinkles exsisting side-by-side with spots?), so I find it really diffiicult to find a foundation that suits.
I have been using AndyLou’s favourite foundation; Max Factor Lasting Performance (she wrote about this and other beauty products she loves a wee while back) and while I have found this to be quite good, I definitely have fewer spots on my chin, I still find I have a really oily forehead that is a complete oil slick by lunch time most days – eeew.
Boots No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation has been created with fine, oil-absorbing powders. The moisturising complex helps to balance oily and dry areas and the mattifying formula promises to make pores less visible. It also has salicylic acid to help prevent blemishes and keep pores clear with anti-oxidant comples with SPF 15 to protect against the aging effects of the sun.
If it can live up to all of that, it sounds like it will be perfect for me!
So I have been using the new Boots No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation for a week to see how I get on with it!
My normal foundation is quite a light formula and the Boots No7 Beautifully Matte foundation is a much more full coverage foundation, which is quite nice for a change. I found that when using the No7 Beautifully Matte foundation, my forehead stayed matte for the whole day, which was my main foundation gripe when using my other foundation.
Despite working so well at mattifying my forehead, Beautifully Matte Foundation is still quite moisturising. I had no flaky patches on my cheeks, I did find that I still had a few dry patches on the side of my chin… but the few spots I had on my chin disappeared and (fingers crossed!) they haven’t been replaced by new spots yet. I am hoping that if I persevere with wearing the foundation and upping the winter moisturising regime, it will sort out the dry patches as well.
The swatches above are on the super pasty-pale inside of my arm so the foundation looks quite dark, but you can see that it has a nice even texture and really good coverage.
I also had a new pic up on facebook and 4 different people commented how nice my skin looked! Admittedly it was taken with very dim lighting on an i-Phone, but I’m sure the No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation has some part to play!
No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation is availble in 6 shades: Porcelain, Cream, Ivory, Blonde, Almond and Tan.
Boots No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation costs £13.50 and will be available to buy online at boots.com and instore at Boots from the 29th of December 2010
