Woo hoo! I ordered myself 5 Models Own sparkle nail polishes last week (and then promptly went away for the weekend) so I had a very nice little package awaiting me when I got back last night!

I had never really been a huge fan of glitter nail polishes, but I own Models Own Orangeade nail polish and love it and when I posted ab0ut the OPI Burlesque Christmas 2010 nailpolishes, one of our readers, Zara mentioned that she loved glitters, so I thought I’d give the glitter nail polishes a go and boy am I pleased I did!

So… the 5 Models Own Glitter nail polishes I got my hot little hands on are…

Models Own Blue Sparkle Glitter nail polish – Blue Sparkle is a clear polish with huge chunks of shimmery blue glitter. I used 3 coats of each of my glitter nail polishes and with Blue Sparkle you can quite easily manipulate where the bits of blue glitter end up on your nail, so you can get good coverage. One thing I noticed with this was it was a bit difficult to get sparkle on the nail tip… and it’s not exactly subtle so might not be everyone’s cup of tea!

Models Own Juicy Jules Glitter nail polish – Juicy Jules is a clear polish with a silver and slightly mult-coloured glitter. The picture above is a good representation of the colour of the glitter. Again I used 3 coats of nail polish, but they were very heavy-handed coats to get the level of opacity above. Juicy Jules would be fantastic over another nail polish colour as well though.

Models Own Scarlett Sparkle Glitter nail polish – Scarlett Sparkle is my favourite out of these 5 lovely Models Own glitter nail polishes. It has a sheer rich red base with red glitter, so you get much better depth of colour than with the other 3 glitter polishes which all have a clear nail polish base. I’m a big fan of opaque nails, so this really suited me. The colour is just beautiful as well – properly scarlett red. My favourite!

Models Own Purple Haze Glitter nail polish – Purple Haze is a clear nail polish with a pretty purple glitter. I couldn’t really get the depth of colour I like with this polish though… it could work really well over the top of another nail polish though, so I am going to try it out over the top of a regular purple nail polish.

Models Own Magenta Divine Glitter nail polish – Magenta Divine is similar to Purple Haze in that it is a little bit too thin for my liking. It has a clear base with a pupley-pink glitter, still very pretty, but after being spoilt by the fabulous Scarlett Sparkle nail polish, it just isn’t bright enough for me! Again, will be one to try over another polish.

Overall I am properly chuffed with my first bulk glitter nail polish purchase! As you’ve probably gathered, I absolutely love Scarlett Sparkle glitter nail polish and Juicy Jules glitter nail polish is fabulous as well. I think all I need to do with Magenta Divine and Purple Haze is try them over an opaque nail polish to get the sort of opaque finish I like!

I bought my Models Own nail polishes online at modelsownit.com – the site can be a little bit slow, but persevere! Models Own nail polishes cost £5 each, but if you buy 3 nail polishes you get £3 off and if you buy 5 nail polishes you get £7 off. You also get free postage and they package everything up in a lovely way!
