A while ago I said I was going to start posting about the products that are the staples of my make up bag. The products I couldn’t live without, but because they aren’t new or hot off the catwalk sometimes don’t get the attention they deserve. The solid friends that get over shadowed by the new, louder, brasher member of class. And then I did just that, I forgot them… I got sidetracked with getting engaged, getting a new job and going to New York. It’s a hard life hey?

And so whilst it’s a little later than planned, this post it by no means any less loving than these beauty products deserve. And so I present to you a few of my favourite all time beauty buys, the ones that I would be lost without and are the staple of my beauty diet!

Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation, 109 Natural Bronze

Over the years I have tried many foundations, some are too think, some too thin, some a bit orange, others leaving my skin dry… and then I stumbled across Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation and I can honestly say I have never been tempted to stray to another foundation again! It’s a thick enough consistency to give my face a flawless base but creamy and light enough that I do not feel caked. The Max Factor Lasting Performance foundation feels natural on the skin because it is specially designed with silicones that feel lighter and less greasy than some traditional oil based formulas.

I have a fairly dark complexion so the Natural Bronze colour is perfect for me

You can buy Max Factor Lasting Performance foundation from Boots.com for £9.49 and right now they are doing 3 for 2 on Max Factor products

Benefit  Box of Blush Coralista

This little box of magic gives me soft, warm and peachy cheeks.  This looks natural and contains a gentle shimmer to give me a radiant glow! Plus with a brush in the box there is no excuse for looking anything but utterly gorgeous whilst on the go! The metallic cheetah print box is pretty cool too!

Benefit Box of Blush Coralista is available from Debenhams at £21.50

Mac Fluid Line liquid eyeliner

I couldn’t never quite get the hang off liquid eyeliner so always stuck to my trusty, easy to apply pencil…and then I had a makeover in my local Mac store. A convert was born. My makeup artist applied the Mac Fluid Line eyeliner, which is eye liner in a pot and applied with a brush. It is a more fluid and softer finish that I had ever got with normal liquid liner pens and lasts all day. I start in the inner corner and apply using small strokes to my outer eye rather than trying to apply in one long line.  Mac Fluid Line is great for giving you deep dramatic eyes or just lifting your makeup up a gear, from day to night.

You can buy Mac Fluid Line directly from Mac stores or their online store for £12.50

Elemis Skin Nourishing Hand and Body Moisturiser

I have naturally quite dry skin and going on holiday makes it even worse. Air conditioning by night and sun, sea and sand by day mean I need a good body cream that will give my skin the nourishment and moisture it’s screaming out for. I have to admit I am a big fan of The Body Shop Body Butters but on a daily basis these can feel a little thick and greasy which is why I love my Elemis Skin Nourishing Hand and Body Moisturiser. It’s light and creamy and sinks straight into the skin leaving no residue or film. It’s also got a great floral scent to it.

You can buy Elemis Skin Nourishing Hand and Body Moisturiser along with the shower cream in the same Nourishing range from Debenhams for £31.50

L’Oreal  Professional Tecni Art Play Ball Deviation Paste

I recently had my hair chopped off and was having difficulty in styling it. I am all for hair styles that are easy to manage and allow me to lay in bed as long as possible in the mornings. I had a chat to my hairdresser who recommended L’Oreal  Professional Tecni Art Play Ball Deviation Paste and I have to say since using it I have fallen in love with my short, choppy bob. I roughly dry my hair to give it a bit of volume and then work L’Oreal  Professional Tecni Art Play Ball Deviation Paste into the ends to give it definition and texture. It doesn’t go crunchy like some hair products so my hair still has a natural finish. Of course as always I finish off with a spritz of my ultimate favourite hair product Tigi Superstar Queen for a Day Volumnising Spray

L’Oreal  Professional Tecni Art Play Ball Deviation Paste is available from LookFantastic for £10.50
